Dear Miss Ruston,
FOREIGN OFFICE, S.W.1.
24th January, 1947.
Thank you for your letter 54179/46 of the 10th January about the activities of the Kuomintang in Hong Kong.
We agree, with the terms of the draft despatch, except that we would suggest that for the words "for the attainment of this object" in the final paragraph you might substitute the words "the more effective control of the Kuomintang in Hong Kong". This would give a broader basis for the Government's reply.
I should be grateful if you would send me two copies of your despatch as it issues, so that we may send one to Nanking.

I return herewith the original of the Governor's despatch of the 28th November.
Yours sincerely,
Abscott
Miss A. Ruston,
Colonial Office.
