FURTHER ACTION.
I hear you are coming in at about 11.15
on Monday morning, and I am much looking
forward to seeing you then.
Meanwhile Galsworthy tells me he
arranged with you on the telephone this
morning to send you a copy of our Constitution
despatch in the final form in which it has been
approved by the Secretary of State, together
with a copy of your original despatch No.145
of the 27th October last. These are accordingly
enclosed.
The copy of your despatch No.145
includes, as you will see, the amendments which
it is suggested should be made before the
despatch is published. You will remember that
your telegram of the 13th May agreed to certain
amendments which we originally proposed to
paragraphs 2, 9 and 15 of the despatch.
You also said in that telegram that you would
prefer any further deletions or amendments to
be confined to those which might appear to be
desirable here. We therefore went through the
despatch again very carefully with this in view.
The further amendments now proposed are all
deletions, with the exception of the following:
