Over there, I am Prosecuting and Station Inspector. That means an average of two nights a week, and I get limawashing papers coming during the limewashing season, and I get instructions to measure up several houses in my spare time. Again, I have to do night warrants, and also inspect and issue licenses for pig styes, once a year. Why should I do this, when a Plague Inspector for nine months out of the twelve does nothing and I have to be on duty Saturday afternoons, and do Sunday, and every night.

Have you ever called the attention of your superior 114 officers to your suggestion ?

I have.

Have you ever done that in writing?

Oh no.

Just verbally to the M. 0.

And did you gather from him that he did not approve of it ?

Yes. I said to him "Doctor, I have so much to do just at present, and I have a heap of linewashing papers in

hand. Why cant a Plague Inspector assist me, when he in

doing nothing". He said "He is the Plague Inspector,

but it is not his duty to do limewashing".

What time of the year was that
