Q.

A

You mean to say that the Amending Ordinance did not

change the question of the condition of aubicles ?

The Amending Ordinance has not modified the regulations

with regard to cubicles, to any great extent. It wants

working out on a drawing.

16027

Do you know what was the reason for the amalgamation of

the old Ordinances, Public Health Ordinances. Tas

there any particular reason?

·

A matter of convenience, I think. The old Sanitary Ordinance has dealt with a good deal of building matter,

cubicles, windows and partitions, and it was more

convenient to put the two together.

16028

Now, having put the two together, would it not be more

convenient to have the whole of the administration in

one Department, and not have a part administered by

J

the Public Works Department, and a part by Sanitary

Department.

and

Yes, I think it would. T have always thought that the

real. function of the Public Works Tepartment is to

carry out Public Works. That is to say, Public

Buildings, Streets, possibly Sewers, Water Supply,

mattersof that sort, and that the purely Municipal

matters relating to private house construction and

drainage, might be very well in the hands of one

Department.

16029

And you think then it would probably be a convenience,

both from the public and Government points of view, if

مصر

the ordinances administered very much as administered

by Municipalities at home?

I think it would be a convenience to be administered

by one "epartment, of course, you must have Engineers

and Dectors.
