REAR MIRAL MOO HY referred to paragraph 5 of Annex II, in which it was stated "netton has already been taken to place six L.C.T. and L.C.I(1) temporarily in reserve in Hong Kon". The L.C.I(L) were lend-lease craft and would temporarily be stationed in Hong Kong before being sent back to the Americans. The L.C.T. on the other hand, would be stationed more or less permanently in Hong Kong. The word "temporarily" shoul be deleted, and a new sentence added - "The L.C.I(L) are, however, lend-lease craft and will eventually have to be returned to the U.S. authorities."

THE COMMITTEE:

discussion, and instructed the Secretary to arrange for it to be despatched to Commander-in-Chief, Hon; Kong

(b) Invite the Defence of Bases Committee

to recommend a scale of defence to

be provided for Hong Kon, to implement our long term policy, takin the revised report by the Joint Planning Staff into account.

(c) Invited the three Service Ministries

and the Colonial Office to consider the question of the formation of volunteer or auxiliary forces including a police reserve, taking into account any decisions that might arise on (b) above.
