Airfield Development at PING SHAN (HONG KONG New Territories)

The construction of a military airfield at PING SHAN in the New Territories HONG KONG, has been approved by the Chiefs of Staff and Treasury approval in principle, together with an intial grant of £150,000 towards the cost of construction has been obtained and site preparation is in progress,

2. The Adiralty and Ministry of Civil Aviation have also stated requirements for Naval and Civil Aviation facilities at PING SHAN.

Details

of the joint requirements are set out in the minutes of the meeting held in Air Ministry on December 13th, 1945 (circulated to Admiralty, 40.A. and D.C.

A copy of these minutes has now been circulated to F.A.B.

3. The Civil Aviation requirement is for the provision of an airfield of "In national standard", which implies the construction of ru ways and teh tracks of greater length, width and bearing value than those constted for normal military use. It has been a preciated however,

that the PING SHAN site may not be altogether suita le for development to the civil "International standard" and it has accordingly been decided to despato a Mission of technical exper:a to HONGONG as soon
