I am afraid we will never see eye to eye with regard to the paying off of overdrafts here. more I see of it the less sympathy I have with those who took such a course. Your argument that such payments involved the payer in some cost or loss of value is not, in my opinion, really valid since the payments were undoubtedly made in what might be termed a form of insurance premium. If the Japs had won they would all have been on the pig's back and they insured themmelves against auch a contingency. The Japs did not win and they have lost their preudum but they had cover in the meantime. I think you will agree that this often happens in the case of insurance policies.
