Imports of Wire Nails increased from 57,000 piculs to 59,000 piculs, the bulk coming from Belgium and China.

Imports of Tin Plates fell from 225,000 piculs ($4.3 millions) to 221,000 piculs ($3.7 millions), the quantity from the United Kingdom falling from 144,000 piculs to 111,000 piculs,

China Tin Slabs enjoyed a good market and 128,000 piculs ($17.4 millions) were imported as compared with 116,000 piculs ($12.6 millions). U.S.A and Japan taking the bulk of the available supply.

MINERALS AND ORES

Imports totalled $1.9 millions as compared with $580,000, and exports $1.5 millions as compared with $871,000.

Imports of Wolframite, chiefly from South China, amounted to 40,000 piculs ($1.6 millions), as compared with 10.000 piculs ($319,000), while exports practically doubled, amounting to 34,000 piculs ($1.2 millions).

NUTS AND SEEDS

Imports totalled $5.8 millions as compared with $7.0 millions, and exports $3.8 millions as compared with $5.6 millions.

Imports of Nuts increased from 300,000 piculs ($2.9 millions) to 347,000 piculs ($2.7 millions), while Seeds decreased from 161,000 piculs ($4.1 millions) to 145,000 piculs ($3.1 millions).

OILS AND FATS

Imports totalled $35,6 millions as compared with $52.2 millions, and exports $30.4 millions as compared with $37.1 millions.

There was a considerable increase in the imports of Petrol, from 8.7 million Imperial gallons to 12.0 million L.G., but values increased but slightly from $6.4 to $6.6 millions. Imports from the Netherlands East Indies increased from 6.0 million L.G. to 8.2 million I.G., and U.S.A. from 2.7 million L.G. to 3.8 million LG. Exports to South China totalled 5.0 million I.G., an increase of a million gallons.

Fuel Oil imports increased from 163,000 tons to 192,000 tons, but values declined very heavily from $15.2 millions to $9.1 millions.

Imports of Kerosene fell from 27.4 million L.G. ($15.2 millions) to 15.1 million IG. ($6.1 millions), and exports from 23.7 million LG. ($13.8 millions) to 15.0 million I.G.

($7.1 millions). South China took only 6.0 million I.G, as compared with 14.5 million I.G.

PAINTS

Imports totalled $2.0 millions as compared with $2.5 millions, and exports $1.7 millions as compared with $2.1 millions.

PAPER AND PAPERWARE

Imports totalled $9.4 millions as compared with $15.7 millions, and exports. $8.0 millions as compared with $10.3 millions.

Imports of Chinese Paper increased from 70,000 pieuls to 92,000 piculs but declined in value from $2.1 millions to $1.7 millions.

The value of Printing Paper imported declined from $6.2 millions to $3.1 millions, and Paperware from $2.2 millions to $1.5 millions.
