The Victoria Guol is nearly on the separate system. The Branch Prison at Lai Chi Kok is not on the separate system. Prisoners work and sleep in asso-

riation.

Victoria Gaol :—All vell doors are provided with inspection holes through which the prisoners can be seen by the officers patrolling the wards. While at labour or exercise the prisoners are at all times unfor the immediate supervision of Principal Wurders, Wurders, and Assistant Wanders, At Lai Chi Kok Branch Prison, officers patrol behind grilles at night.

Victorin Guol:- 642 cells on the separate system, 12 association cells, and I coulemned cell.

Lai Chi Kok:- 7 Halls-cach Hall can arcom- molate 50 prisoners.

In classification their sentences and nationality are taken into consideration; they are classified as follows, viz.:-

Convicted adult prisoners.

Debtors.

Misdemeanants.
