Sir,
In returning the Colonial Surgeon's Report for 1856 I have the honour to submit for the information of His Excellency the Governor that the new Kitchens in the Jail yard formed the subject of Report No. 1 of 1856 and is dated 14th of June in that year. These Kitchens were in full operation on the occasion of the first visit I made to the Colonial Buildings after my appointment, namely on the 4th December last, and I then gave the Jailer directions to have the old ones taken down and the ground cleared away by the chain gang.
