THE RULES OF THE SUPREME COURT (AMENDMENT) RULES 1971.
We, the Rules Committee of the Supreme Court, being the Authority having for the time being power under section 38 of the Supreme Court Ordinance to make, amend or revoke rules regulat- ing the practice and procedure of the Supreme Court of Hong Kong, bereby exercise those powers as follows-
1. (1) These rules may be cited as the Rules of the Supreme Court (Amendment) Rules 1971,
(2) These rules shall come into operation on the 1st day of July 1971.
1. Order 29 of the principal rules is amended-
() in the beading, by deleting "Erc." and substituting the
following-
"INTERIM PAYMENTS, ETC."";
(6) immediately before rule 1, by inserting the following
sut-beading----
*I. INTERLOCUTORY INJUNCTIONS, INTERIM PRESERVATION OF PROPERTY, ETC."
(c) after rule 8, by adding the following new rules-
*IL INTERIM PAYMENTS.
Interpretation of Part 11.

In this Part of this Order-
(a) "an action for personal injuries" means an action in which there is a claim for damages in respect of personal injuries to the plaintiff or any other person or in respect of a person's death;
"personal injuries" includes any disease and any impairment of a person's physical or mental condition;
"interim payment", in relation to a defendanı, means a payment on account of any such dam- ages as aforesaid which that defendant may be
