BUILDING (VENTILATING SYSTEMS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 1971,
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 of the Buildings Ordinance, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations-
1. These regulations may be cited as the Building (Ven- tilating Systems) (Amendment) Regulations 1971 and shall come into operation on the day appointed for the commencement of the Buildings (Amendment) Ordinance 1971.
2. Regulation 5 of the principal regulations is revoked and replaced by the following---
*Duty of owner of ventilating systertia.
Issue of certificates by regis- tered ven- tilation contractors.
5. (1) The owner of any building in which there is installed a ventilating system to which these regulations apply shall—
(a) keep such ventilating system in safe and
efficient working order at all times; and
(b) cause every damper, filter and precipitalor in such ventilating system to be inspected by a registered ventilation contractor at least once in every twelve months.
(2) Any person who contravenes paragraph (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable op conviction to a fine of two thousand dollars.
SA. (1) A registered ventilation contractor who inspects any ventilating system shall within fourteen days of such inspection issue to the person on whose instructions the inspection was carried out a certifi- cate and send a copy thereof to the Director.
