(c) the name and address of the registered

ventilation contractor who carried out the inspection.

(3) Any person who-

(a) contravenes paragraph (1); or

(6) makes or causes to be made in a certificate issued under paragraph (1) a statement

which he knows or reasonably ought to know to be false in a material particular,

shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fins of two thousand dollars and to imprisonment for six months.".

Explanatory Note.

(This Mate is not part of the regulations, bur is intended to indicare their general purport).

Regulation 2 replaces regulation 5 of the principal regulations with a new provision under which the owner of a building in which there is a ventilating system to which the regulations apply must keep that system safe and working efficiently and must have certain parts of that system inspected annually by a registered ventilation contractor.

Regulation 2 also adds a new regulation, 5A, to the principal regula- tions which requires a registered ventilation contractor who has inspected a Ventilating system to issue to the person requesting the inspection a certificate. A copy must be sent to the Director of Fire Services. This certificate musi state the condition of the equipment inspected, the address fat which the inspection was made and the name and address of the can-

tractor who carried out the inspection.
