Section 15 of the principal Ordinance is amended-
(a) in subsection (1), by inserting, after "Subject to the
provisions of", the following-
"subsection (2A) and";
(b) in subsection (2), by-
(i) inserting in sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (v). after "academic officer of.", the following-
"or awarded a College diploma or a College certifi- cale by.":

(ii) inserting in paragraph (w), after sub-paragraph (i), the following-
"(ilia) the Hong Kong Certificate of Education (English) with Grade E or a higher grade in at least five subjects, or Grade D or a higher grade in at least four subjects, or Grade C or a higher grade in at least three subjects;
(üib) the Hong Kong Certificate of Education (Chinese) with Grade E or a higher grade in at least tive subjects, or Grade D or a higher grade in at least four subjects, or Grade C or a higher grade in at least three subjects;
(ilic) the General Certificate of Education with passes in at least three subjects at 'O' or a higher level or with passes in at least two subjects at 'A' or a higher level:
(ind) the University of Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination with passes in at least two subjects;":
(iii) deleting sub--paragraph (vii) of paragraph (w);
(c) by inserting, after subsection (2), the following new sub-
section-
"(2A) The registration officer may register as an elector on any register to be compiled pursuant to section 19, any person who possesses educational qualifications which, in the opinion of the registra- tion officer, are equivalent to those mentioned in paragraph (w) of subsection (2).".

4. Section 24 of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting subsection (I) and substituting the following-
"(1) The Governor shall appoint a returning officer who shall perform the duties imposed on him by this Ordinance."*
5.
The Second Schedule to the principal Ordinance is amended by inserting, after “Institute of Bankers.", the following-
"Institute of Public Cleansing.
Royal Society for the Promotion of Health. Lostitution of Fire Engineers.”.
