he may, notwithstanding such appointment, exercise and discharge all such jurisdiction, powers, authorities and duties as were prior to such appointment vested in him as a judge or a temporary judge of the District Court, but in relation only to any proceedings which were duly commenced before him in his capacity as a judge or temporary judge of the District Court prior to such appointment.
8C. Every judge and temporary judge shall be a justice of the peace by virtue of his office.".

An Ordinance to amend further the Promissory Oaths Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Promissory Oaths (Amendment) Ordinance 1970.
2. The principal Ordinance is amended by adding, after section 1. the following new section—

14. In this Ordinance, unless the context other- wise requires-
"Judge" means any judge of the Supreme Court, other than a Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed under subsection (1) of section 13A of the Supreme Court Ordinance.".
