placed below or in front of an emergency exit, shall be deemed to form part of the passage.".
23. Regulation 62 of the principal regulations is revoked and replaced by the following—

"Access to exits.
Amendment of regulation 63.
Revocation and replacement of regulation 64.
62. (1) Subject to paragraph (2), there shall be unobstructed access from every sest on-
(a) an omnibus; and
(b) a light bus,
to at least two exits from the vehicle or to one exit if only one exit is required by these regulations.
(2) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to any seals that are alongside the driver if there is access to them by an entrance other than the driver's entrance.
(3) Direct access shall be provided to the driver's seat either—an
(a) from the off side of the vehicle; or
(b) by means of a passage which shall not be of less dimensions than those prescribed in paragraph (1) of regulation 63 for a gang-
way.
(4) No seat in an omnibus or light bus shall be fitted to a door so that when the seat is in position for use it obstructs any passage to an exit or gangway required by these regulations.”,
24. Regulation 63 of the principal regulations is amended in paragraph (1) by inserting after "omnibus”, wherever it occurs, the following-
"or light bus".
25. Regulation 64 of the principal regulations is revoked and replaced by the following-
**Height of pangways.
64. (1) The clear height at every point along the centre line of any gangway between the limits specified in paragraph (3) shall be as follows-
(a) in the case of a single-decked omnibus not
less than five feet eight inches;
(b) in the case of a double-decked omnibus not less than five feet eight inches on both decks: and
(c) in the case of a light bus not less than four
feet six inches.

(2) The clear height at every point along the centre line of any gongway shall, outside the limits specified in paragraph (3), be not less than four inches lower than the clear height prescribed in paragraph (1),
(3) The limits referred to in paragraph (1) extend from the front edge of the foremost passenger seat adjacent to the gangway to the front edge of the rearmost passenger seat adjacent to the gangway.”
26. Regulation 65 of the principal regulations is amended- (a) in paragraph (1), by inserting after "an omnibus” the
following-
"and in a light bus":
(b) in paragraph (2), by inserting after "seat" the following-
"in an omnibus and in a light bus*;
(c) in paragraph (3) by inserting after "lengthwise" the
following--
"in an omnibus or light bus";
(d) in paragraph (4), by deleting "Transverse" and sub-
stituting the following-
"In an omnibus and in a light bus transverse":
(e) in paragraph (5), by inserting after "on omnibuses" the
following-
"and light buses";
(f) in paragraph (6) by inserting after "passengers" the
following--
"in an omnibus ar light bus";
(g) in paragraph (7), by deleting "Where any transverse Bear"
and substituting the following-
"If any transverse seat on an omnibus";
(h) in paragraph (8), by inserting after "driver" the
following-
"of an omnibus or light bus",
27. Regulation 67 of the principal regulations is revoked and replaced by the following-
"Safety
glass.
67. All glass used in the construction of— (a) an omnibus; and
(b) a light bus.
shall be safety glass.".
