ROAD TRAFFIC ORDINANCE.

ROAD TRAFFIC (CONSTRUCTION AND USE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 1969,

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Road Traffic Ordinance, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations-

1. These regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Con- struction and Use) (Amendment) Regulations 1969 and shall come into operation on a day to be appointed by the Governor by notice in the Gazette.

2 Regulation 15 of the principal regulations is revoked and replaced by the following-

"Speedo- meters,

15. (1) Every motor vehicle. other than an invalid carriage, a motor cycle having an engine of which the cylinder capacity does not exceed one hundred cubic centimetres and a motor vehicle which it is at all times unlawful to drive at a speed excording twelve miles per hour, shall be fitted with an efficient speedometer which shall be-

(a) so placed that it can be easily read by the

driver:

(b) maintained in good working order;

(c) kept free from any obstruction which might prevent it from being easily read by the driver:

(d) calibrated and marked so as to indicate clearly the speed at which the motor vehicle is being driven; and

(e) accurate within a margin of plus or minus ten per cent when the motor vehicle to which it is fitted is being driven at a speed in excess of that specified in paragraph (2). (2) The speed referred to in paragraph (1) shall be the speed which is prescribed as the maximum speed for the vehicle in which the speedometer is fitted or, if no such speed is prescribed, thirty miles

per hour.
