CITATION AND INTERPRETATION.

1. These regulations may be cited as the Radiation (Control of Citation Irradiating Apparatus) Regulations 1965, and shall come into operation and com on the day appointed for the commencement of the Radiation (Amend ment) Ordinance 1961.

"dental practitioner" means a person for the time being registered or

deemed to be registered under the Dentists Registration Ordinance (29 of 1999). 1959:

"dental X-ray machine" means a type of irradiating apparatus specifically designed for the taking of radiographs of the teeth or jaws;

"dose" is the quantity of absorbed energy from radiation;

"dosemeter" means an instrument for measuring exposure to radiation: "dose rate" is the dose per unit of time, usually expressed as "rads per minute" and abbreviated "rads/min." or as "rems per minute" and abbreviated "rems/min.";

"employ" and "employment" include reference to any kind of work carried out in furtherance of apprenticeship or any agreement for training;

"equivalent thickness of lead" means such thickness of lead as is equally

opaque to a specific quality of radiation;

"exposure rate" means the exposure per unit of time, usually expressed

as "roentgens per minute" and abbreviated "r/min.";

"filter" means any substance interposed in a beam of radiation for the purpose of changing its quality or intensity, or both; and "filtration" has a meaning corresponding therewith;
