URBAN COUNCIL ELECTIONS (PROCEDURE) (AMENDMENT)

REGULATIONS, 1960.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 30 of the Urban Council Ordinance, 1955, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations-

1. These regulations may be cited as the Urban Council Elections Citation. (Procedure) (Amendment) Regulations, 1960,

2. Regulation 5 of the Urban Council Elections (Procedure) Amendment Regolations, 1955, (hereinafter referred to as the principal regulations) of regula-

tion $. i amended in paragraph (2) by the deletion of the word “chinese” and IG.N.A. 1be substitution therefor of the following-

"Chinese".

3. Regulation 27 of the principal regulations is amended-

Amendment of regule.

(a) in paragraph (2) by the deletion of sub-paragraphs (a), (b) and tion 27.

(c) and the substitution therefor of the following-

"(a) takes any photographs,

(b) canvasses, or

(c) displays any poster."; and

(b) by the addition after paragraph (2) of the following new

paragraph-

"(3) Any elector who-

(a) takes any ballot paper, whether marked or unmarked,

out of the polling station, or

(b) deposits in the ballot box any paper other than the

ballot paper given to him by the poll clerk,

shall be guilty of an offence and on conviction therefor shall be liable to a line of live hundred dollars and six months imprisonment.",

4. Regulation 31 of the principal regulations is amended-
