EMERGENCY (Detention Orders) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1957-

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 of the Emer- gency Regulations Ordinance, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations-

1. These regulations may be cited as the Emergency Citation. (Detention Orders) (Amendment) Regulations, 1957.

2. Regulation 2 of the Emergency (Detention Orders) Rescission Regulations, 1956, is rescinded and replaced by the following- placement 1. (1) Where the Governor in Council is regulation

(G.NA. (a) a person is liable to deportation under the 104/56).

Deportation of Aliens Ordinance; and

(6) the enforcement of a deportation order in relation to such person would be impracticable or unlikely to be effective; and

(c) it is contrary to the public interest that such person should remain at large in the Colony, he may make an order (hereinafter referred to as a detention order) against that person directing that he

be detained.

(2) Where a detention order is made against a person against whom a deportation order under the Deportation of Aliens Ordinance is in force, the opera- tion of such deportation order shall be deemed to be suspended during such time as the detention order is in force.".
