(d) both lamps shall have the same appearance, when illuminated and the same illuminated area and if such lamps are electrically operated, the wiring shall be so arranged that in the event of any failure of a bulb in either of the lamps, the other lamp shall not thereby extinguished,
148. (1) On any motor vehicle carrying a load overhanging laterally more than twelve inches from the centre of the nearest side lamp a lamp showing to the front a white light visible from a reasonable distance shall in substitution for or in addition to such side lamp be carried on the side or each side on which the load so overhangs, and shall be so placed that no part of such load shall project outwards more than twelve inches beyond a vertical line through the centre of such substituted or additional lamp.
(2) On any motor vehicle carrying a load projecting to the rear more than six feet behind any lamp showing a red light to the rear a lamp showing to the rear a red light visible from a reasonable distance shall be carried in substitution for or in addition to such lamp so that no part of such load shall project to the rear more than six feet measured horizontally beyond such substituted or additional lamp:
Provided that this paragraph shall not apply to any motor vehicle when actually in use for the conveyance of a fire escape, if the lump carried by such motor vehicle and showing a red light to the rear in accordance with the provisions of these regulations is not obscured by the fire escape or any part thereof or attachment thereto when in its normal position on the motor vehicle for the purpose of conveyance.
149. Except as otherwise provided in these regulations, no light shown by a motor vehicle other than a dipping headlight shall be moved by swivelling deflecting or otherwise while the vehicle is in motion:
Provided that
(a) this regulation shall not apply to searchlights or other special lamps fitted to or carried on any vehicle used for naval, military, air force, police or fire fighting purposes;

(b) the beam of light emitted from not more than two lamps showing a light to the front, other than the obligatory front lamps, fitted to any motor vehicle may be deflected to either side by the movement of, although not necessarily through the same angle, as, the front wheels of the vehicle when turned for the purpose of steering the vehicle, provided that the centre of any such lamp is not more than three fest three inches from the ground,
160. Every bicycle and every tricycle and every invalid Lights on

Provided that if a bicycle or a tricycle is being wheeled by a person on foot as near as possible to the near or left-hand edge of a road, no lamp need be carried,
151. Every rickshaw, chair, cart and hand cart on any road Lights on during the hours of darkness shall carry a lamp on the right or
rickshaw, etc. offside thereof showing to the front a white light and to the rear a red light visible from a reasonable distance :
Provided that if a rickshaw, or chair is stationary in any place set aside for rickshaws or chairs or as near as is practicable to the side of the carriageway, no lamp need be carried.
152. No vehicle other than a motor vehicle used solely for Red lights. fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes shall show a coloured light to the front:
Provided that this regulation shall not apply to a fog lamp of a pattern or style approved of by the Commissioner.

153. (1) No vehicle shall show any light other than a red Restriction light to the rear but this regulation shall not apply to a lamp on the carried by a vehicle for the purposes of the internal illumination and caure thereof or of illuminating a number plate, taximeter or any device of lamps for giving signals to overtaking traffic, provided that such device carried. complies with the provisions of regulation 25 or in the case of a public omnibus any device for the purpose of illuminating boards plates or devices indicating the route or destination of the vehicle or pass lights.
