Section III-Other vehicles.
138. No bicycle, tricycle or rickshaw on any road shall be towed by any other vehicle.
139. (1) No bicycle shall be used to carry at one time more persons than the number for which it is designed and no pillion passengers shall be carried on a bicycle:
Provided that a person may be carried on a properly con- structed seat affixed to a pedal bicycle in the New Territories other than New Kowloon except on such roads as shall be designated by the Commissioner in accordance with this regulation.
(2) The Commissioner by order may designate any road in The New Territories other than New Kowloon as a road on which no pillion passengers shall be carried on a bicycle.
140. (1) No tricycle or rickshaw shall be driven on the right of another vehicle proceeding in the same direction except when overtaking such other vehicle or when turning right at a road junction.
(2) No bicycle shall be ridden on the right of any two other bicycles proceeding abreast in the same direction except when overtaking such other bicycles or on parts of roads or paths set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles.
(3) Whenever part of a road or path adjacent to a road has been set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles no bicycle shall be used on any other part of the road.
141. (1) No load on a bicycle shall weigh more than forty bierele not pounds if carried on a properly constructed load carrier affixed to the front of the bicycle or more than fifteen pounds if carried on the bicycle in any other manner.

(2) No load on a bicycle shall be of such dimensions as to cause or be likely to cause danger, obstruction or annoyance to any person using the road.
(3) Every load on a bicycle shall be properly and rigidly secured to the bicycle.
142. (1) Chairs shall always he carried on the left hand side of the road in single file.
(2) In the event of any breach of this regulation, the drivers of the chair other than the chair on the left hand side of the road shall be guilty of an offence.

Section IV-Lights on vehicles.
143. (c) Except as otherwise provided in these regulations Obligatory every motor vehicle in motion on any road during the hours of lights to
be carried. darkness shall carry-
(a) two lamps showing to the front a white light visible from
a reasonable distance:
(b) two lamps showing to the rear a red light visible from
a reasonable distance;
Provided that-
(a) in the case of-
(i) a motor cycle not having a side-car attached thereto; and
(ii) an invalid carriage,
only a single lamp showing a white light to the front and a single lamp showing a white light to the rear instead of two of each of such lamps need be carried; (b) the requirement of two lamps showing to the rear a red light in lieu of the previous requirement of one lamp showing to the rear a red light shall not apply to any motor vehicle licensed under the Vehicle and Road (Cap. 220). Traffic Ordinance or under any regulation made there. under before the 1st day of January, 1940, until the 1st
day of January, 1958,
and every such lamp shall, while the vehicle is in motion on any road during such hours as aforesaid, be properly trimmed lighted and in a clean and efficient condition and shall be attached to the motor vehicle in such position and manner as is provided by these regulations.
(2) Every person who causes or permits a motor vehicle to be in notion on any road during the hours of darkness shall provide such vehicle with lamps in accordance with the require- ments of these regulations.
144. (1) The provisions of regulation 143 shall apply in the Special case of a motor vehicle drawing one or more other vehicles provisions subject to the following modifications-
as to
vehicles
towing and
(a) the lamps showing a red light need not be carried by the being
drawing motor vehicle;
towed
(b) no lamp showing a light to the front need be carried on
any motor vehicle being drawn :
