VEHICLE AND Road Traffic (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1956.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Vehicle and Road Traffic Ordinance, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations—
1. These regulations may be cited as the Vehicle and Road Citation. Traffic (Amendment) Regulations, 1956.

Interpre- Volume 1 of the Regulations of Hong Kong (1937 Edition) tation. (hereinafter referred to as the principal regulations) is amended by the addition, after paragraph (d), of the following new paragraph-
"(dd) "driving instructor" means a person who—
(a) is the bolder of a valid licence issued under the provisions of regulation 4 to drive the category of motor vehicle in respect of which he intends to give driving lessons; and
(b) has held such a licence for not less than three years or such lesser period as the Commissioner of Police may decide in any particular case; and

(c) has passed the test required by the Commissioner of Police for the purpose of satisfying himself as to the fitness of the person to give lessons; and
(d) is in possession of the written permission of the Commissioner of Police, which may be withdrawn at any time, so to act with regard to the category of vehicle mentioned thereon.””,
3. Regulation 4 of the principal regulations is amended by Amendment the deletion of paragraph (1) and the substitution therefor of of regula- the following-
