(b) the deletion after the word "withheld" of the following- "and if an officer is dismissed from the service of this Colony for such negligence, irregularity or misconduct, no pension, gratuity or other allowance' shall be granted, unless in any special case the Governor in Council with the approval of the Secretary of State otherwise directs and any such direction may, irrespective of the wishes of the officer concerned, also determine whether a pension so granted shall be awarded in the form of a reduced pension and gratuity.".

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice
and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Adoption Ordinance, Short title 1956, and shall come into operation on a day to be appointed by the Governor by proclamation in the Gaselle.
