liability any member of the Reserve who, in his opinion, quitted the Reserve for a reasonable and bona fide cause and used reasonable diligence in his training until he quitted the Reserve.
(4) The requirements of efficiency in any year shall be-
(a) the diligent performance by the member of the Reserve, to the satisfaction of the Commis- sioner of Police, of such number of instruction periods not less than 5 and not exceeding 60 as the Commissioner shall direct ;
(b) attendance, if the Commissioner of Police so requires, for not more than 14 days* training:
(c) such training and instruction alternative to that laid down in paragraphs (a) and (b) as the Commissioner may direct: Provided that the Lotal period of training or instruction so ordered shall not exceed in the aggregate the maximum amounts laid down in those paragraphs.
(s) for the purpose of this regulation, and regula. tion 9, the year shall be deemed to stari on the 1st day of October.
(6) For the purpose of paragraph (4)(c) one day's training shall be deemed to be the equivalent of a period of 6 hours' instruction,'
Regulation of the principal regulations is hereby amended by deleting the words "and such period only" in the third line of paragraph (1) and by the addition of the following paragraphs as paragraphs (3), (4) and (5) after paragraph (2) thereaf
"(3) A member of the Reserve when in training shall be entitled to receive pay and allowances at the same rates as would be eligible to receive when called out for active service.
(4) A member of the Reserve when under instruction shall be entitled to receive an instruction allowance in respec of such periods of instruction in accordance with the rates shewn in the following table-

13. Any person who wilfully obstructs any part of the Reserve or any member of the Reserve in the performance of any service or duty under these regulations shall be guilty of an offence.
