(1) Section 3.

(3) Section 7-
(1) Section 3 is amended-
(a) by being renumbered as subsection (4)
of section 3:
(6) by the deletion from paragraph (2) thereof of the comma and words either in addition to or in lieu of sen- rence";
(c) by the addition of the following sub-
section as subsection (2)—
"(2) For the purpose of this sec- tion a court OT magistrate may recommend in addition to or in Beu of sentence that a deportation order should be made in respect of a con- victed person who is an immigrant British subject, and the burden of proof that such person belongs to the Colony shail for such purpose be upon That person >
Provided that except as provided in section 4 the exercise or failure to exercise the powers con- ferred hereby on a court or magistrate shall not be deemed to affect the powers of the Governor in Council."
(2) Section 4 is amended by the insertion after the words "a court" in the first line of the words "'or magistrate'.
(3) Section 7 is amended by the deletion of the words "judge or a court" in the first line, in the fourth line and in the fifth line thereof, and the substitution in each case of the following-
"judge, court or magistrate".

SECOND COLUMN.
Detail of amendment or repeal.
(1) Section 25 is repealed and replaced by the fol-
lowing-
"Corrupt- ion.
25. A telegraph officer shall be deemed a public servant and an officer of a public body within the meaning of the Prevention of Corruption Ordinance, 1948."
(2) Section 2y is amended by the repeal of sub- section (3) and the substitution therefor of the following-
"(3) Every such officer shall be deemed
a public servant and an officer of a public body within the meaning of the Prevention of Corruption Ordinance, 1948.”
(3) Section go is amended by the repeal of sub- section (6) and the substitution therefor of the following
"(6) Any person who is guilty of an offence against this section shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine of three thou- sand dollars (and in default of payment to imprisonment not exceeding twelve months) or to imprisonment for any term not exceed- ing twelve months, and shall upon convic- tion on indictment be liable to a fine of ten thousand dollars (and in default of payment to imprisonment not exceeding three years) or to imprisonment for any term not exceed- ing three years."
(4) Section 37 is repealed.
