An Ordinance to amend the Legal Practitioners Ordinance,

1871.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may he cited as the Legal Prac- titioners Amendment Ordinance, 1947, and shall be read as one with the Legal Practitioners Ordinance, 1871, bereinafter referred to as the principal Ordinance.

The principal Ordinance is hereby amended by the insertion therein of the following section as vection 9A immediately after section 9 thereof :-

9A. (1) Where before the expiration of the term for which a clerk is articled the solicitor to whom he is articled ceasce to practise as a solicitor, or retire. ment of or dies, or his articles are cancelled by mutual unlicitor or consent or discharged by the court, the clerk may if articles excelled ne

be bound by fresh articles to another practising discharged, solicitor for the residue of the said term and service under those articles in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance shall be good service.

(2) The provisions of this Ordinance with respect to the registration of articles shall apply to fresh articles entered into in accordance with the provisions of this section."
