By His Excellency Sir FRANCIS HENRY MAY, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander- in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the
Baina.
Whereas by the Military Stores (Exportation) Ordinance, 1862, it is enacted that it should be lawful for His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice of the Execu- tive Council by Procuruation to prohibit, for such period as should be mentioned in such Proclamation, either to be exported from the Colony of Hongkong, or to be carried conatwise within the said Colony (amongst other things) Arms, Ammunition, Gunpowder, and Military and Naval Stores, and any articles which His Excellency may judge capable of being converted into or made useful in increasing the quantity of Military or Navul Stores, or any or either of such Arins, Ammunition, Gunpowder, Stores, Goods or Articles respectively, subject to any permission that may be obtained under Section 3 of the Ordinance :
And whereas, by various Proclamations issued from time to time, auch exportation and carriage conatwise were prohibited, and remain probibited until the 27th day of May, 1917, and it is expedient to continue such prohibition:
Now, therefore, I. Sir Francis HexUY MAY, Knight Commander of the Most Distin- guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the same, by and with the advice of the Executive Council of this Colony, du, by this Proclamation, pro- hibit for a further period of one year from and including the 28th day of May, 1917, either to be exported from the Colony of Hongkong, or to be carried coastwise willin the said Colony, Arnus, Ammunition, Gunpowder, Military and Naval Stores, Sulphur and Saltpetre, the last two being articles which I judge capable of being converted into or
