abandoned; 390 feet of 6" cast iron main were laid in Hillier Street between Connaught Road and Wing Lok Street; 188 feet of 6" cast iron main were laid as a bypass to Kennedy Town Reservoir; 130 feet of 4" cast iron main were laid in Smithfield to Inland Lots Nos. 1883 and 2169; 566 feet of 6" wrought iron piping were laid across Aberdeen Harbour to Ap Lei Chau, replacing 2"; in connection with this work a protective rubble mound was deposited for lengths of 390 feet on the east and 360 feet on the west sides, starting at points 66 and 80 feet respectively from the Aberdeen Praya; 830 feet of 3" wrought iron piping were laid in Ap Lei Chau; 148 feet of 2" wrought iron piping were laid in Smithfield near Inland Lots Nos. 1883 and 2169; 1,368 feet of 13/₄" wrought iron piping were laid from Shaukiwan to Ah Kung Ngam Village; 105 feet of 1" wrought iron piping were laid from Shaukiwan to Ah Kung Ngam Village and 400 feet of 11/₂" wrought iron piping were removed from Ap Lei Chau.

118. Port Works:-Cost of cement testing and aggregate analyses, alterations to Automatic Tide Gauges at Kennedy Town and Shaukiwan and improvements to Causeway Bay Depôt were defrayed from this vote.

COMMUNICATIONS.

119. Blue Pool Road-Section adjacent to Inland Lots Nos. 3685 and 3686:--Cutting and filling was carried out to form the roadway to full width.

120. Magazine Gap Road-Road widening and Car Park at junction of Bowen Road:--This work consisted of all the necessary walling, decking and surfacing for improving the road alignment, forming a Car Park and widening the bridge. The contract was let to Messrs. Chuen Wo Construction Company in May. The work proceeded satisfactorily and was completed in September.

121. Garden Road-Widening:-Improvement was made by widening this road to 50 feet opposite the Peak Tram Station. A five feet footpath was provided on the western side. This work was carried out under the Maintenance Contract.

A site for a car park with shelter and latrine was formed immediately to the north of the Peak Tram Station at Garden Road. The contract was let to Messrs. Sang Tai & Co. on 30th January and the work was satisfactorily complete on 30th April.
