EXAMINATIONS.

83. A table showing the results of the Hong Kong University School Certificate Examination held in June is appended. Table VII.

84. The Hong Kong School Certificate Examination under the auspices of the Education Department was held for the first time in June. Altogether 721 candidates from Hong Kong schools entered and of these 423 were successful.

85. There was one Matriculation examination of the University of London in January. One Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Examination, one Final LL.B. Examination and one Matriculation Examination were held in June.

86. An examination for the School Certificate of Commercial Education of the London Chamber of Commerce was held in July and a further examination for one candidate in Shorthand was held in November.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND FEES REMITTED.

87. These may be either Internal Scholarships implemented by remission of fees or External Scholarships provided by individual benefactors or groups of benefactors.

88. Fees remitted in 1937, details of which are shown in Table V, amounted to $27,716.00. External Scholarships were of the approximate value of $10,000.00.
