The work was commenced in November to the areas occupied by the Police Stations, Sheung Shui and Sai Kung Police Stations only and, at the end of the year good progress had been made. The erection of barricades to Au Tau and Ping Shan Police Stations was postponed on account of economic consideration.

194. Additional Cells and Stores at Tai Po Police Station:-This work consisted of the provision of two additional cells to the Police Station and a store room for Police in the Land Office. These small additions to existing buildings were carried out by the Maintenance Contractor for the district and satisfactorily completed in August. Two electric light points were installed.

195. Compensation and Resumptions :-Sundry small resumptions were carried out by the District Officer, South.

196. Demolition of The Old City Hall :-Demolition was commenced in September and was nearing completion by the end of the year. The contractors were The General Construction Co. and a credit of $2,030.00 was received from them for the old materials.

197. Demolition of three houses at Des Vœux Villas-Mount Kellett Road :-This was carried out at a cost of $1,700.00.

198. Demolition of The Bank House, St. John's Place:-Demolition was commenced in July and completed in September. The contractors were Messrs. Tai Tack Shing and a credit of $1,267.00 was received from them for old materials.

199. Resumption of Wong Ma Kok Village :-The resumption of agricultural and pigsty lots in the above village was effected.

200. Telephone Cables:-Laying buried telephone cables was completed. The cost was covered by payment into a separate account.
