A total of 3,666.45 million gallons was filtered, 1,292.07 were filtered by the Slow Sand Beds and the remainder, 2,374.38 million gallons, by the Paterson Rapid Gravity Plant at Shek Li Pui, of the latter quantity 787.89 million gallons were supplied to Hong Kong.
The total quantity of water supplied to Kowloon during the year was 2,782.85 million gallons (exclusive of 92.43 million gallons supplied to Water Boats at Lai Chi Kok) which gives an average daily consumption of 7.62 million gallons or 23.1 gallons per head per day based on an estimated population of 330,000. Details are given in Table IX.
The quantity of water stored in the impounding reservoirs on 1st January was 625.39 million gallons and a minimum of 216.16 million gallons was reached on 16th May.
The reservoirs were at or above their permanent overflow levels for the following periods :-

The quantity of water in storage at the end of the year was 2,042.56 million gallons.
213 tap samples of filtered water were examined by the Government Bacteriologist with the following results:-
