157. Dredging:-This work was referred to in paragraph 186 of last year's Report. Dredging West of Kowloon Peninsula continued and was completed by May 30th. During the year, 184,872 cube yards of material were dredged by Government. Additional dredging carried out on behalf of the Admiralty and the Hong Kong and Kowloon Wharf & Godown Company is referred to in paragraph 194 under "Works not appearing in Estimates".

158. Construction of Yard for Storage of Sand at Hung Hom:-A contract for the construction of sand storage bins was let to Messrs. Woo Hing on the 18th March. In all fifty-two bins were built, each bin holding thirty-three cubic yards of sand. The contract was completed satisfactorily in July. Two electric lights in kitchen and quarters were installed.

162. Roads:-Work completed under this head included the surfacing, kerbing and channelling of new roads, and where required to existing roads. Footpaths were paved with granolithic paving or slabs and the necessary improvements made in front of new buildings erected during the year.
