163. Drainage:-(a) Training Nullahs:-The open earth cut at the base of the foothills at Lai Chi Kok was completed to a total length of 2,200 feet. Part of the invert was concreted and sections of banks reinforced with walling. Subsidiary channelling was also laid to this earth cut. Walling at the head of Lai Chi Kok nullah was extended, an apron constructed across the invert, and bellmouth inlet improved.

(b) Miscellaneous Drainage Works:-New main sewers and storm water drains were constructed to a length of 2,327 feet, varying in diameter from 33" to 6". A reinforced concrete footbridge was constructed across the open cut at junction with Lai Chi Kok nullah and concrete aprons were constructed across inverts of Cheung Sha Wan and Wong Uk nullahs. Minor drainage works, such as culverting and channelling, were carried out at Lai Chi Kok, adjacent to Wing Hong Street, Cornwall Street, College Road and N.K.I.L. 2142. The number of drain connections made was sixty-nine. Many new gullies with flat gully gratings were constructed and connected to the existing storm water drainage system.

164. Miscellaneous: — Lai Chi Kok Prison European Warders' Quarters were rewired. One power plug was installed at Ma Tau Kok Slaughter House Inspector's Quarters.

Water Works Miscellaneous:-The following works were carried out:-305 feet of 6" cast iron main were laid in Nga Tsin Wei Road from Nga Tsin Long Road to midway between Hau Wong Road and Lion Rock Road, 500 feet of 2" wrought iron piping were laid from Grampian Road to the Hau Wong Temple and a new intake was constructed below Smugglers Pass together with a channel, approximately 300 feet in length, to the South Conduit.

166. Port Works:-Expenditure under this head was for re-establishing beacons for surveying the Lai Chi Kok Water Boat Dock and the fixing of mooring rings.
