The following items of work were undertaken and completed by the end of 1935:- Taipo Road-tar painting with chippings road surface at Kowloon Reservoir; repairs to road surface between Tai Wai and Sha Tin Railway Crossing; repairs to bridge at 15 Mile, Taipo; surfacing Taipo Market area; erection of village nameplates; tar painting with chips near San Hui, Castle Peak; repairs to channels between Castle Peak and Tsun Wan; patching road surface between Au Tau and Mai Po; erection of village nameplates and street nameplates at Un Long: erection of sign posts at Fanling cross roads and Golf Club cross roads; and strengthening and improving the road surface between Au Ha Gap and Sha Tin Kok for a distance of about two miles including margins, channels and 4"/6" macadam tarpainted with chippings together with provision of subsoil drainage.

The following are particulars of the area laid during the year:-

Maintenance of Telephones:- The lines and instruments were maintained in good order. A telephone was removed from old Sheung Shui Railway Station to the new Station.

Maintenance of Sewers, Nullahs, etc.:- Sewers, storm water drains, trained nullahs and concrete channels were cleansed, repaired and maintained in good condition. Sundry repairs were carried out to channels.

Electric Lighting:- The total number of street lamps in use at the end of the year was thirty-two, an increase of eighteen over the previous year, the additional lamps being installed at Un Long.

98. Typhoon and Rainstorm Damage:- The following damage was caused by rainstorm throughout the year, repairs being completed by the end of 1935:- Tai Po Road-wash-out to embankment at 5 Mile and at 6 Mile, repairs to landslip, catchwater and channel at 12 Mile, and removing minor...
