The total consumption of filtered water from the Chai Wan Filters for the year was 48.99 million gallons which includes 2.32 million gallons supplied to the boat population, equivalent to an average of 134,000 gallons per day. An unfiltered supply of 4.16 million gallons was given to the barracks at Lyeemun, which along with the amount of filtered supply stated above, made a total of 53.15 million gallons or 146,000 gallons per day. Details of the consumption are given in Table VIII. During the dry season the supply was augmented from the city system.

There were thirty-six public stand pipes and twenty-five fire hydrants in use at the end of the year.

The service reservoir which was leaking considerably was repaired.

Towards the end of the year the connection to Sai Wan barracks was moved from above the filter beds inlet to below the service reservoir to enable a filtered supply to be given.

(b.) Aberdeen:-The supply was subjected to restrictions similar to those in force in the City of Victoria, a constant supply being maintained for 124 days during the year.

The total consumption of filtered water was 32.00 million gallons including 3.08 million gallons supplied through the water boat station and 2.98 million gallons supplied through the 2″ cross harbour main to Aplichau. The average consumption for the year was 88,000 gallons per day. Details are given in Table VIII.

There were eleven public stand pipes and eleven fire hydrants in use at the end of the year.

(c.) Repulse Bay:-The supply was subjected to restrictions similar to those in force in the City of Victoria, a constant supply being maintained for 124 days during the year.

The total quantity of water supplied during the year was 11.36 million gallons equivalent to an average consumption of 31,000 gallons per day. Details are given in Table VIII.

Early in the year this supply was connected to the new service reservoir on Jardine's Lookout since when a filtered supply has been maintained in the whole of the supply area.

A connection from the Wongneichong Gap Reservoir has been provided, so that in emergency an unfiltered supply can be substituted.
