The second cross harbour pipe line was satisfactorily completed and tested in April. A description of this work will be found in paragraph 207 of this Report.
The mainland supply was in operation for 197 days between 18th June and 31st December during which period 519.68 million gallons were delivered into the Gardens Service Reservoir, equivalent to an average daily supply of 2.64 million gallons.
The total quantity of water stored in the impounding reservoirs on 1st January amounted to 1,768.03 million gallons, of which 489.15 million gallons were in the gravitation reservoirs and 1,278.88 million gallons in the lower-level reservoir requiring pumping. Storage reached a minimum on the 14th June when the total was 591.91 million gallons, 217.81 million gallons being in the gravitation reservoirs.
