41. In addition, the work of enclosing and developing certain areas as playgrounds, both in Hong Kong and Kowloon, was completed during the year.
42. During the course of the year sketch plans were prepared for the following proposed buildings:--Remand and Salvation Army Home; New Trade School, Wood Road; New Government Civil Hospital, Subsidiary Buildings; Fire Brigade Sub-Station at Shaukiwan; and New Mental Hospital.
EXPENDITURE.
43. The expenditure on Public Works has grown very considerably during the last three decades. The average annual expenditure during the years 1905 to 1914 was $2,030,530, from 1915 to 1924 it was $4,591,130, whilst from 1925 to 1934 the average annual expenditure has been $8,477,220.
