ANNEXE BY THE COLONIAL VETERINARY SURGEON.

STAFF.

1. During October, Staff was increased by the inclusion of six Food Inspectors whose duties consist of supervision of Markets, Special Food Licensed Premises, Offensive Trades, Food Preserving Establishments and Dairies and the taking of samples of food and milk.

GENERAL STATISTICS.

2. There was no great change in the number of animals slaughtered.

3. The number of animals admitted to Kennedy Town and Ma Tau Kok Slaughter Houses is shown in Table XVI.

4. The revenue derived from Slaughter Houses is shown in Table XVII.

LARD FACTORIES.

5. The following goods were manufactured and exported to the Philippine Islands, United Kingdom and Australia:

Lard 2,753,840 lbs. Cracklings Skins 250,830 Sausages and dried meat 237,152 51,064

6. Raw material received into Lard Factories:

Raw Fat 4,135,993 lbs. Lean Meat 72,069

7. Food exported from Firms other than Lard Factories:

Tinned food 1,300 lbs. Preserved Meat 1,790

CREMATORIUM.

8. The following were destroyed for which no charges were made:

14,457 lbs. of diseased meat (condemned carcases, etc.) and 242 animals.

Fuel used in Crematorium for 1934:

38 tons of coal.

389 gallons of kerosene.

37 gallons of kerosene emulsion.
