The electrical installations in all Government buildings were maintained in good order. Sixteen hundred and sixty-two fans and two hundred and thirty-five radiators were cleaned and overhauled. Thirty-three fans and motors were completely rewound. Twenty-five radiators were fitted with new elements. Work was carried out in connection with additions and alterations to thirty-six buildings on forty-two light and power points. Improved type traffic lanterns were installed at the junctions of Queen's and Pokfulam Roads, Bonham and Pokfulam Roads, and Connaught Road Central near Star Ferry. Nine police recall signal lanterns were installed for Upper Level, Bay View, Aberdeen, Pokfulam, Quarry Bay, Stanley, No. 2 and No. 7 Police Stations. Typhoon lanterns at Lyemun, Gough Hill, Harbour Office, Waglan and Gap Rock Lighthouses were maintained in good order. Electrical installations in thirty-three Government buildings were tested and repaired, and one hundred and twenty-six inventories of Electrical Fittings were issued and revised.

47. Improvements to Buildings. The principal improvements carried out under this heading were as follows:- Belilios School - conversion of two box rooms into W.C's., Fire Station Building - provision of doorways in Analyst's Office and Electrical Office, alterations in Appliance Room - Provision of a draught fan to fume cupboards in Analyst's Office, P.W.D. Offices - sundry alterations, P.W.D. Annexe - Installation of two W.C's, Harbour Office Quarters - enclosing of Verandah openings, General Post Office - alterations and additions to Parcels Branch and Main Hall, Belilios School - construction of a garage in basement, Government House - sundry painting, alterations and repairs, Central Police Station - conversion of the Detention Room to use as a Records Office, and erection of an Oil Store, Victoria Hospital - new partition, new shelves in Store Room and Alarm Bell, 157 The Peak - alterations to approach path and renewal of tiling to five fireplaces, Magazine Gap Police Station - new partitions, bathroom and doorway, Mountain Lodge - provision of loose boxes for ponies, ventilator in stables, and sockets to tennis court.
