152. Married Quarters, Lai Chi Kok Prison.—This work was reported as complete in paragraph 236 of last year's report. Expenditure during 1932 was for the payment of the Retention Money.

153. New Female Prison, Lai Chi Kok.-This building was referred to in paragraph 237 of last year's report. The work proceeded satisfactorily and the prison was completed and ready for occupation on March 15th.

GENERAL WORKS.

154. Roads.-Portions of the undermentioned roads were macadamized, kerbed, channelled and laid to approved levels. Footpaths were paved with granolithic paving or slabs and the necessary improvements made in front of new buildings erected during the year: -Approach Road to Female Prison. Lai Chi Kok, Castle Peak Road and diversion to Lai Chi Kok Bathing Beach, Cheung Sha Wan Road, Fuk Wa Street, Fuk Wing Street, Hai Tan Street, Ki Lung Street, Kweilin Street. Kowloon City Road, Boundary Street. Maple Street, Nanchang Street. Pei Ho Street, Prince Edward Road. Road West of Tak Ku Ling Road, Sai Kung Road, Shek Kip Mei Street, Shek Ku Lung Road. Taipo Road, Tai Nan Street, Tung Choi Street, Tung Chau Street, Tak Ku Ling Road, Yee Kuk Street, Yen Chau Street, Yu Chan Street. Un Chau Street, Wong Chuk Street. New Streets and roads as yet unnamed.

155. Drainage:—(a) Training Nullahs -The first section was constructed of the nullah bounding the site of the proposed cracker factory to the south of N.K.I.L. 1482. Ngau Tau Kok. The outer wall of the nullah to the north west of the Sham-shuipo Reclamation was constructed between Castle Peak Road and the sea. Parapet walling was erected along part of the south west side of the nullah in Sam Tak Road, Kowloon City
