146. Back Lane Service Pipes.-10,835 feet of 11⁄4" to 3" diameter wrought iron piping were laid as subsidiary mains in back lanes and 1,095 houses were connected to these service pipes.

Distributing Mains.-The following is a statement of the work done under this heading:-1,200 lineal feet of 8" cast iron main laid in Waterloo Road. 310 lineal feet of 6" cast iron main laid in Kau Pui Shek Road, eastwards from Tam Kung Road. 130 lineal feet of 6" cast iron main laid in Fir Street. 400 lineal feet of 6" cast iron main laid in Lime Street. 1,280 lineal feet of 6" cast iron main laid in Anchor Street, westwards from Tong Mi Road. 490 lineal feet of 6" cast iron main laid in Embankment Road. 6" cast iron main laid in Gillies Avenue. cast iron main laid in Hak Po Street.

149. New Service Reservoir, Yaumati Hill.-A Contract amounting to $163,752.90 for this work was let in November and work commenced immediately. By the end of the year approximately 6,000 cubic yards of excavation had been removed. The steelwork for the reinforced concrete was indented for and partly charged during the year.

PORT WORKS
151. Mong Kok Tsui Ferry Pier.-This work was referred to in paragraph 235 of last year's Report. The work was completed at the end of June, 1931, and expenditure was on account of the payment of retention money amounting to $1,000 which became due to the Contractor on expiration of the maintenance period of six months.
