PORT WORKS.
125. Ferry Piers (Western).—This work was referred to in paragraph 214 of last year's Report. The work was completed in 1931 and the expenditure under this head was on account of the payment of retention money amounting to $1,500.00 which became due to the Contractor on expiration of the maintenance period of six months.

126. Construction of rubble mound at North Point-This work was referred to in paragraph 215 of last year's Report. Government Grab Dredgers Nos. 1 & 2 were employed during part of the year and dredged a further length of about 750 lineal feet of the trench for the mound foundations to depths of 20-25 feet below Ordnance Datum. The Rubble Mound was formed to contract lines over a length of about 750 lineal feet, about 17,000 cubic yards of stone being deposited. This makes the total length of the Rubble Mound now completed 1,500 lineal feet. The seawall, built of coursed rubble masonry in cement mortar with cement concrete backing was constructed to an average height of seven feet above O.D over a length of 600 lineal feet.

ANTI-MALARIAL WORKS.
129. Permanent Training of Nullahs.--In the middle of the year work was started in the Mount Parker area, Quarry Bay, and later in the Stanley, Sookunpoo and Iveemun districts. Streams were trained to lengths of 4250 feet as channels, varying from 9" x 9" to 36" x 36", 1577 feet as culverts, from 27″ to 63″ in diameter, and 200 feet as walled nullah.
