136. Kowloon Hospital, Maternity Block.-This work was described in paragraph 219 of last year's report. Work proceeded satisfactorily and the building was completed and ready for occupation on the 29th February.

131. Kowloon British School Site. This work was referred to in paragraph 220 of last year's Report. The work was satisfactorily completed by the end of October but progress was slow.

132. Magistracy at Yaumati.-Sketch plans were prepared for a three-storied building containing the following accommodation:-Ground floor-A small Court Room, Waiting Rooms, Stores for Records, Strong Room, Cells, Detention Room, Quarters for Messengers and Office Coolies, Heating Chamber and Garage; First floor-Two Court Rooms, Magistrates' Chambers, Solicitor's Room, and Office accommodation for the Administrative Staff; Second floor-A European Flat with Servants' Quarters. Several sites for this building were under consideration and at the end of the year negotiations with the Military Authority were in progress with a view to acquiring a site on the border of King's Park.

Roads.-Portions of the undermentioned roads were kerbed and channelled, the footpaths being paved with granolithic paving or slabs, and the necessary improvements made in front of new buildings erected during the year:-Argyle Street, Arran Street, Ashley Road, Austin Road, Bedford Road, Boundary Street, Bowring Street, Bute Street, Canton Road, Cedar Street, Chatham Road, Cox's Road, Duke Street, Embankment Road, Fa Yuen Street, Fife Street, Fir Street, Gascoigne Road, Gillies Avenue, Ha Heung Road, Hanoi Road, Hankow Road, Hamilton Street, Hak Po Street, Kau Pui Shek Road, Lai Chi Kok Road, Larch Street, Lime Street, Lo Lung Hang, Lok Shan Road, Middle Road, Mong Kok Road, Mody Road, Mong Kok Ferry (Entrance), Mok Cheong Street, Nathan Road, Nelson Street, Nullah Road, Oak Street, Pak Po Street, Playing Field Road, Poplar Street, Kansu Street, Ki Lung Street,
