NEW TERRITORIES.
BUILDINGS.
254. School at Un Loong.-This building was described in paragraph 240 of last year's report. The work proceeded satisfactorily and was completed in the month of June. Prior to and in readiness for completion, a furniture contract was let to Messrs. Tak Hing & Co., and all furniture necessary to the opening of the School was installed on completion of the building. The building was occupied before the end of June.

255. Quarters for Forestry Reserve, Tai Po.-The contract for the formation of site and Forestry Reserve at Tai Po was awarded to Messrs. Pang Loong & Co. on 1st April, 1931, at a sum of $3,075.05. The work was carried out in a satisfactory and expeditious manner and was completed on 12th August, 1931.

GENERAL WORKS.
256. Roads.-The undermentioned roads were kerbed, channelled, and footpaths and scavenging lanes being paved with granolithic paving, and the necessary improvements made in front of the new buildings erected during the year. Also, improvements of a dangerous part of the road at Tai Wai Village were carried out under this heading:-Nam Shing Street, On Fu Street, Sui On Street, Tai Po Market, Tai Po Road, Yan Hing Street.

257. Miscellaneous.--Only minor works were executed under this Head.

COMMUNICATIONS.
258. Patrol Path from Lin Ma Hang to Sha Tau Kok——This work was referred to in paragraph 246 of Report for 1929 and paragraph 214 of last year's Report. A Section, from Lin Ma Hang to No. 11 Boundary Stone, was satisfactorily completed on 14th March, 1931.

259. Reconditioning of Roads. This work was referred to in paragraph 216 of last year's Report. The strengthening and improvement of the road surfaces was continued, an additional layer of 4" macadam being laid over the present surface, and tar painted between Au Tau and Mei Po.
