WATER WORKS.

249. Kowloon City Service Reservoir.-During the year it was decided not to proceed with this work, but to construct a new Service Reservoir much nearer to Kowloon Point. Sites on Partridge Hill and Danger Flag Hill were investigated and the latter was chosen as being the more suitable. It was considered practicable to construct a service reservoir of from four to five million gallons capacity at the necessary elevation and drawings for such a reservoir are now in course of preparation.

250. Distributing Water Mains The total length of water mains laid during the year was 4,857 feet varying in diameter from 6" to 12".

251. The principal lengths were laid in Cheung Sha Wan Road (1,876 feet of 12" main) and in Castle Peak Road at Wong Uk (1,610 feet of 8" main).

252. Cheung Sha Wan-Construction of mound to retain materials dumped.--This work was referred to in paragraph 206 of last year's Report and was completed in March, 1931.
