242. Water Works.-The following works were carried out under this heading:-740 feet of 6" main laid in Fuk Wing Street between Nan Chang Street and Shek Kip Mei Street, the lighting set at the Fast Gravity Filtration Depot was transferred to the Electrical Sub-Department and a supply from the China Light & Power Company substituted.

COMMUNICATIONS.

243. Access Road (fifteen feet wide) to Christian Chinese Cemetery, Kowloon City. This work was referred to in paragraph 190 of last year's Report. The work was satisfactorily completed on 7th May. The road was kept closed to motor traffic and handed over to Maintenance Office in August.

244. Castle Peak Road, section from Cheung Sha Wan to Lai Chi Kok to Town Planning Layout (sixty feet wide).—This work was referred to in paragraph 199 of last year's Report. The considerable delay was caused by the unexpected amount of rock met with in the cutting faces. The work was completed on 10th July, 1931 and handed over to Roads Maintenance Office for surfacing which was completed by the end of the year.

245. Tong Mi and Kowloon Tong Filling in areas. This work was referred to in paragraph 199 of last year's Report. The work was satisfactorily completed on 11th August, 1931.

246. Filling in areas North West of Nan Chang Street and West of Tai Po Road. This work was referred to in paragraph 201 of last year's Report. Progress was satisfactory in view of difficulties owing to building operations. A new cutting face on the lower section of Tai Po Road was commenced in October.
