19. Kowloon and New Kowloon. - In these districts 365 acres were surveyed in detail and 342 acres were plotted on the Colony Sheets.

Thirty miles of subsidiary traverses were run.

20. New Territories. - Forty-eight acres were surveyed and 51 acres plotted, chainage 40,500 feet. Reference has been made under "Revenue Surveys and General" to the work being done in the Sap Pat Heung Valley which is also being plotted on the Colony Sheets.

21. 21 sheets scale 1:2,400 and 32 sheets scale 1:10,000 "Victoria" and 1 sheet scale 1:20,000 No. 19 "Victoria Harbour" were reduced to tracings on linen size 36′′ × 26′′ were made.

22. The revision of the 1:20,000 sheet No. 19 "Victoria Harbour" was completed.

23. Main Traverses. - A traverse was run from Picket Box 92 in Sam Tack Road along Sai Kung Road to Ngau Shi Wan and Dairy Farm Lot No. 10 and then along the old Military Road to Pat Uk Tsai. The length was 5,762 feet and the error in closure 1 in 9,100. Another traverse was run from East Base Trig. at Tai Po to Tsoi Hang along the Motor Road. The length was 15,969 feet and the linear misclose 1 in 7,600.

In connection with the survey of the Sap Pat Heung Villages it was necessary to run a traverse between Au Tau and Tai Tong triangulation station. The length was 14,600 feet and the linear misclose 1 in 5,200. The angular misclose was 1′ 30′′. These miscloses which are rather larger than those laid down as permissible for main traverses viz:- 1 in 8,000 and 1′ of arc were permitted as the district is an outlying one and no very close degree of accuracy is necessary.

GENERAL.

24. Sheets 6, 9, 12, 15, 16, 19, 20, 22 of the 1:20,000 map were published during the year.

25. No Colony Survey Sheets of Hong Kong Island was taken up during the year but 22 were taken up of Kowloon and New Territories.

LEVELLING.

26. This work which was commenced in 1929, and of which full details were given in the report for that year, steadily progressed.
