The area alienated is about 73 sq. miles.
(2) The number of plans (in quad.), all of which required a survey, made for the Registration of titles from 1.4.26 to 31.3.29 is 735.
(3) The whole area of the Colony is covered by Topographical maps on the following scales:-
84450 or 2″=1 mile. 1″=1 mile. Military Maps. 31886 or 2″=1 mile. 15330 or 4″=1 mile. Hong Kong Island. Collinson original 1845. 790 or 8″=1 mile. Kowloon and part of New Territory (Military).A new Topographical map is now in course of preparation by the War Office based on the aerial survey of Colony carried out in 1924 and this will eventually be published on following scales:
1:50000 Parts of the New Territory. 1:20000 Hong Kong and New Territory and one sheet deep of the adjoining territory. Sheets 6 and 9 of this map have already been published and it is expected that the remainder, 24 in all, will be out by end of year. 1:1,000,000 extending as far North as Canton. This map is already published.(4) Practically the whole of the villages and cultivation of the Colony are covered by cadastral survey the scales being 1:360 or 16″ to 1 mile and 1:1920 or 32″ to 1 mile. Maps of the City of Victoria and Kowloon, the Survey work of which has been almost completed and plotted to a scale of 1:50 or 50 ft. to 1 inch will eventually be published: These are also being reduced to a scale of 1:2400 or 200 ft. to 1 inch.
Maps of the outlying villages, some of which have already been surveyed and plotted, will also be prepared to similar scales. Other detail work such as cultivation etc. will be plotted to a scale of... only.
