(d.) Waterworks.-Under this heading repairs were effected to the dry weather flow channel in the old portion of the catch-water which gave evidence of excessive leakage, and the path leading to the Kowloon Reservoir, which owing to its steepness is subject to frequent heavy erosions, was surfaced with lime and cement concrete.

(e.) Port Works. These works were referred to in Annexe L under 'Miscellaneous Works' at page 168 of last year's Report.
Only minor works were carried out in connection with the contemplated construction of a public pier at Lai Chi Kok.

153. Roads:-
(a.) Waterloo Road Extension to foothills (100 feet wide).—This work was referred to in paragraphs 211 (g.) of the Report for 1925 and 153 (b.) of that for last year.
It formed part of Contract No. 24 of 1922 of which Messrs. Li Hing & Bros. were the Contractors. As stated in the foregoing paragraphs of this Report they became involved in litigation over this Contract with the result that very little work was done for six months of the year. They lost the case and as a consequence Messrs. Lam Fau Nam who were the plaintiffs to the action made an endorsement on the Contract and carried on with the work as from the 27th August, 1927, since which date decided improvement in the progress of the work was made.

(b.) Access Road to Dairy Farm Lots at Diamond Hill.—A Contract for this work was let in September and good progress made by the end of the year.
